Churchill Downs
is a thoroughbred horse racetrack, famous for hosting the annual Kentucky Derby, and intermittently hosting other horse races including the
Kentucky Oaks, Breeder’s Cup, Woodford Reserve Turf Classic, Stephen Foster Handicap, and the Clark Handicap. More recently they have begun
hosting races at night.
Churchill Downs contains the Kentucky Derby Museum, normally open year round. The museum has a number of exhibits on the history of the
Kentucky Derby and Churchill Downs, including on the training and racing of thoroughbred horses. It also has a unique 360-degree movie
theater showing a short film entitled, “The Greatest Race,” a brief documentary on the Kentucky Derby.
