America’s Best Communities Competition

Out of over 350 communities across
the United States, 50 communities were selected in the competition’s quarter final round. Of those, each community
received $50,000 to developer a
revitalization plan.

From this class of 50 quarterfinalists, the 15 with the best plans, most innovative ideas and being effectively executed, were named semifinalists this past January.

Down to the 15 semifinalist communities, each pitched their proposal. The 7 communities that did not advance to the finals received $25,000 to continue their plans.

Eight finalists,

communities were chosen. Each of which will receive $100,000 grant from the sponsors Frontier Communications, DISH Network, Co Bank and The Weather Channel.

The 8 finalists are, in no particular order:

Chicago Lakes Area, Minnesota; Darrington/Arlington, Washington; Huntington, West Virginia;
Lake Havasu City, Arizona; Madison, Indiana;
Statesboro, Georgia;
Tualatin, Oregon; and
Valley County/Meadows Valley, Idaho.
